ドラマにしてははまってしまったもの。
恋に６人くらい絡ませてどうなるのかわからなくさせているのがうまいなと思った。
花火の前でキスするシーンがシルエットとなってとても綺麗でした。
最後クライマックスとして、全員恋愛としてハッピーにもっていっちゃってもよかったんじゃないかなとも思ったけど、まぁいいか。
音楽もしっかりハマっていましたね。
キムタクと竹内豊の良い時代だ。
ロングバケーション。

宮崎駿が描く、母と子の物語

2008最後の映画は崖の上のポニョ。
いよいよ宮崎駿も熟れて来たなという印象。
一つのことに夢中になると他のことが全く見えなくなっちゃう子供、全てのものが大きく、大げさに見える子供。それをしっかり子供目線で描いた宮崎駿はさすがだなと。

画は色鉛筆、絵の具で描いたような、CG全盛の時代にそれと逆を行くようなものだったけど俺は素敵だと思った。賛否両論なのだろうが、これは素晴らしい映画だ。

週末友達がNYを訪れていたので一緒にブロードウェイのMamma Mia!を観て来ました。

アメリカ人らしく、面白みもなく、結論から言っちゃうと、本っっっ当に面白かった！
最初の三分は俺とパフォーマーのテンションの違いに、何だか置いていかれちゃうんだけど、一曲目の”I Have A Dream”が始まるともうSophieのすぅっと透き通る声にその世界に引き込まれてしまう。そしたらもうそのまま最後まで釘付けになってしまうのだ。

ABBAのダンスナンバーに乗っけてストーリーを展開していくのだけれど、もうアクターたちの演技が立派で、きっと厳しい道を乗り越えて役を getして、ホント幸せそうなのが伝わり、今を精一杯やっているのも伝わり、何か見ていて嬉しくなって、泣きそうになって、感動して、羨ましくて、俺も一緒になって舞台でやりたいって強く感じました。

中でも一人だけアジア人のアクターがいて、彼にすごく勇気と刺激をもらった気がする。白人ばかりの舞台で一人でアジア人で頑張っていて、彼が一体どういった経緯を持っているかは知らないけど、決して平坦な道ではなかったのは容易に想像できる。

ABBAは昔お父さんが車で聞いていて、それだから曲は全部勝手に僕の中に入っていて、でもしばらく聞く事はなかったし、所詮ABBAだろ、と見る前までは思っていたけれど、ショーを見てみるとどうでしょう。

だからこうして今でもABBAを聞いているわけです。
聞くとそのショーがどんなだったかずっと覚えていられそうです。

せっかく自分が過去で一番好きだと思える街NYにいられるんだから、もっとそれに感謝して毎日過ごさなきゃな、なんて決まりきった台詞を感じて、いやでも本当にその通りなんだな。だから僕は決めた。

ぜーんぶのブロードウェイを見よう！

これは一流のエンターテイメントだ。
見ていながら、脳内の幸せなエクスタシーがたくさん出ているのを感じていた。
こういうものにもっともっと触れていって、文化的な目を養っていきたいですね。

村上春樹と糸井重里という、個性と個性がぶつかるすごいコラボレーションだ。
カタカナの色んな言葉をテーマにつらつらと書いていくのだが、実にこの二人はセンスがあること。ちょっぴりお洒落なんだ。それでいて、それぞれがしっかり自分のスタイルを持っているので、どちらが書いたか見る前に、ほとんど筆者がわかってしまう。
わりと、短編の文章の最後に軽く落ちを持ってくる。それらは毎回ほとんど-タイトルとはほぼ関係ない断りのことが多い。

谷川潤一郎の傑作。
佐助の春琴に対する愛はとてつもなく深い。
ひどい姿になってしまった春琴を見ないように、自ら目を潰して盲目になった佐助。
普通であれば目が見えないことは不幸だと思うが、佐助にとっては愛する春琴に嬉しく思ってもらえ、目が見えるときより春琴の肌を感じられ、琴の音、鳥の声などより深いところで感じられることが幸せでならなかったのだ。
悲劇なようで、男女二人の愛の物語なのです。

シチュエーションは少し違うけど、アメリカに他の国から来るという意味では、彼の気持ち、わかる。

89歳になった監督だけど、うん、やっぱ"男"だなと思った。笑
女優が最高に綺麗で、衣装も素敵。
ファッションショーを見ているようだ。17世紀のフランス。

Patti Smithの "Dream of Life"というドキュメンタリーがNYのFilm Forumで上映された。見つからないので同名のCDの欄に書いておこうっと。

映画で見ているとPattiは本当に人生を謳歌しているなと感じて、そんなんいいなって嬉しくなった。歌歌ったり、写真撮ったり、政治的メッセージ送ったり、友達の幅がめっちゃ広かったり、やはり影響力のある人は何しても届くなと。

その日はPatti本人と監督のSteven SebringがQ&Aに来ていた。
僕は「ロックンローラーとしてたくさんのことを成し遂げた今、残りの人生でやりたいことって何？」って聞いた。
Pattiは「やりたいことなんて尽きないわ。まだ歌を歌いたいし、写真も撮りたい、トラベルもしたいし、あれも、これも、それも、、、」と言った感じで答えてくれた。歳をとっても興味、好奇心を絶やさないこと、勉強、学びを続けることがやはり大事なんだってことを再認識させてくれた。
劇場を出たところで気さくにPattiがポップコーンを食べてたのでサインをもらった。
すごく気さくな人ね。

二組の夫婦を交えて浮気、その告白、スワッピングが流れるように次々と起きて、そのコミカルな感じが笑えた。

ディズニーで、子ども向けで、ってあまり期待せずに見に行ったらとってもよかった。

ストーリーはシンプルな分、カラフルでダンスあり、歌ありの、そして空を飛ぶメリーポッピンズさんと、飽きさせてくれない。

あの傘欲しいなー。

それにしても、舞台が滑らかに、次々に変わって行く様は素晴らしかった。

この本は深かった。。。

色々本を読んで来たが、読んでいてここまで精神が高揚し、何か極論に走ってしまいそうなくらい内面から興奮する本にはなかなか出会えないものだ。

これを書いた杉山明さんには会って言葉を伝えたいと思ったし、
これをわざわざ日本から僕のいるNYまで届けてくれた友達にもありがたい気持ちでいっぱいになった。

これはただの旅行記に留まらず、我々の内面と言うか、世界、生、死、と輪廻、普遍、愛、どの言葉を選んでいいかわからないけど、この世界の全部を包み込むシンプルな仕組みのことを言っているように感じた。

中でも印象に残った言葉。
「人は欠落した何かを埋め合わせるように出会う」
俺ははっとした。そうなんだ。その通りなんだ。
どんなやつも、君をどこかに導く為に出演してくれているんだ。
そう思うと急に、嫌いだと思っていた人、好きだった人、みんな含めて感謝の気持ちでいっぱいになった。

AKIRAのメッセージ：君を旅立たせるためにこの本を書いた。
とあるように、俺は奮い立たされたし、それらを生を自分の肌で感じる為に旅立つだろう。

壮絶にこの一生を生きたい。

I am going to review a play Macbeth, which is written by the most influential writer in all of English literature, William Shakespeare in 1606. The book I read was new edition published by Penguin Books, and was edited by Stephen Orgel in 2000. Macbeth is a fiction, which is Shakespeare’s shortest tragedy. James was a patron of Shakespeare’s acting company and he wrote this play to welcome the new king James. The King was religious, anti witches, and divine right to kings, so Shakespeare wrote the script following the Kings characteristics to please him.
To summarize this play, a Scottish general Macbeth was prophesied by a trio of witches that he would eventually be the King of Scotland. Everything is going wrong from here. His wife, Lady Macbeth, spurred her husband Macbeth to murder the King Duncan. Macbeth killed him and actually became the King. He became a tyrannical ruler and committed murders one after another to secure his position. Then he received another prophecy that he would be safe until Birnam Wood comes to Dunsinane Castle and he would not be harmed by any man born of woman. While he feels secure, Macduff, who is a Scottish nobleman, went to England to join Malcolm, the Duncan’s son. They finally had to fight, but did the last prophecy come true or not?
The theme of this play is the power and ambition. Macbeth desired strong power in his hand. However, when the ambition goes too much and not controllable, his rule was deconstructed. This story is memorable because this is bloodiest one in Shakespeare’s play. But also, this is entertaining and I am sure he successfully entertained the King James, too.
I agree with the author that he shows us what the good rule is by comparing King Duncan and Macbeth. In this play, Duncan is always referred to as a king, while Macbeth was known as the tyrant. I think it is successful. Comparing to The King of Mali Empire, Sundiata, which is written by D.T. Niane, Macbeth’s tyrannical rule was totally different from Sundiata’s, while King Duncan offered the peace in the world like Sundiata.
The issue this book raises is related to the theme of this book. I learned that I always should keep the moral and do not be so greedy.　I am always so ambitious for my goal to be a world famous film director, but I will be aware myself when I got the power. Macbeth was good negative example. I recommend this book for potential readers because
Also, I did not mention the consequence of the last prophecy, but this has a lot of wit and humor. I would like you to find out what that is.

Don Quixote was written in 1571-1576 in Spain by Miguel de Ceravantes. Don Quixote also reflects the society of Spain in 15 to 16th century. I think the funniness of this book comes from the main character Don Quixote’s strong passion, misunderstandings and illusion. Especially, it was really funny when Don Quixote tried to attack windmills because he thought they were giants. (Ceravantes 36) However, this is not only funny but also that social background is hidden behind it. It is said that windmills symbolize Netherlands, and it might imply deeper meaning that Spain would be losing to Netherlands. Historically, the prophecy became true. When Ceravantes was writing Don Quixote in between 1571 and 1575, The Eighty Years' War or the Revolt of the Netherlands happened since 1568. Spain was one of the strongest countries at that time but they declined their power by the end of 16th century starting the destruction of the invincible armada in 1588. Netherland was finally independent from Spain.

In addition, we can see that Ceravantes tries to fight with the radical idea in his time that distinguishing between a person’s class and worth. Aristocrats were thought respectable no matter who that was. Ceravantes effectively compares two different states; aristocrats and a poor person. Duke and Duchess are depicted as foolish and thoughtless, while low class peasant, Sancho, was wise. We can see another aspect of the society in those days through Ceravents attacking the conventional idea in this way. I think that he wanted to prove that the class did not matter and even the poor and the weak people can be more respectable and wiser.

この本のレビューがなかったので京都造形芸術大学つながりでここに書かせてもらおう。

京都造形芸術大学が一見ふざけてるように見えるこんなことをしてるんだと思うと、まだまだ日本も自由な発想を伸ばしていく環境を作ろうとしてるんだなと感じる。
コンセプトが非常に面白いものがたくさん。
僕は”音の虫”が好きでした。

実際にやらないと読んだだけじゃだめだね！

マリの伝説的なお話。

I am going to discuss two things; Sundiata overcoming the difficulties and the unique custom of Mali in this paper.
First, I think the theme of this whole story is overcoming the difficulties. When Sundiata was young, he could not even walk and rarely spoke. He was still crawling on the ground when he was seven years old. Other kids were walking and talking, and I know how his mother felt at that time. She must have been so shameful, at the same time, she should have been so anxious. However, he stood on his feet finally, and he became more powerful as he grew up. He have beaten Soumaoro's forces and finally established a great empire in Mali. As a blind old said to King Maghan, “When the seed germinates growth is not always easy; great trees grow slowly but they plunge their roots deep into ground”, I think this is true. Babies of horses stand as soon as they are born, while babies of men take a year to stand. But this story gave me great courage. I really feel I can achieve my dream to be a top film director. I know it is not easy, but Sundiata, who had much more difficulties than me, could rule the whole Malian empire. People get motivated when we hear this story, so this is the reason that this story has been orally handed down generation to generation for more than seven hundred years. We need those great stories.

Second, I would like to mention about their custom in Mali. The setting of this story is totally different from where I am today in terms of country and time, so their custom sounds really unfamiliar for me. First of all, they practice polygamy, while I am familiar with monogamy. As men’s point of view, I cannot imagine how hard to have a couple of wives to take care of. On the other hand, if I were a one of a kings wives, I would be so anxious and jealous to other wives just like King Maghan's first wife, Sassouma. Also, I do not want anyone to decide whom I should marry. However, King Maghan needed to marry an ugly woman, Sogolon Kedju, to get an extraordinarily powerful baby for the empire. The King had no choice to believe the prophecy, which two hunters brought. It was interesting to know the different culture and custom.

No one will disagree that this is truly the tragedy. If I were Oedipus, I cannot bear his situation. I am going to discuss two things; the incestuous affair and the life of Jocasta.
First, I would like to discuss the incestuous affair, which Oedipus did with his real mother although he did not know that. Later, Sigmund Freud advocated a theory called “Oedipus complex” based on his story. A baby first loves the parent of the opposite sex and has a hostile attitude towards the parent of the same sex. Oedipus was abandoned by his parents when he did not recognize his parents, so I guess he might had the subconscious hostility towards his father and actually killed him later. In addition, he had not met his mother when he is conscious, so he loved his mother when he was mature although male kids usually experience that when they are little baby.
Second, I would like to focus on Jocasta, who is the mother of Oedipus. As the title, Oedipus is mainly focused on as a tragedy in this story, but we should not forget that his mother Jocasta also had actually the tragedy. She lost her lovely husband Laius, whom was killed by his son Oedipus. Moreover, she found out that she actually had sex with his son and even had two babies, which is really hard more than we can imagine. She finally killed her self. However, she would go to the Circle VII according to Dante’s Inferno because it is the suicide. What a tragic life she had.

最初のgenesisのところしか読んでいないんだけど、宗教的にというより文学としてとらえた時にとても興味深かった。

Since I am not Christian, this is the very first time to read the Bible for me. But it is noteworthy that the Bible is the world best seller all the time, so it is good chance to know about it. I am going to discuss The Fall of Man and The dispersion from Early History and Isaac and Joseph from Patriarchal History.
First, I would like to talk about The Fall of Man (chapter 3-5.) I think the Bible tries to teach the patience in this chapter. The God said Adam not to eat the fruits, where was in the middle of the garden, but Adam and Eve actually ate it tempted by a serpent. However, human is such an animal, who really want to do it by nature when something is forbidden or not allowed to do. Our curiosity is stimulated by ban. For instance, when my teacher of my middle school told students not to enter that room, my friends and I entered the room to see what there is. We were so curious because there must have been some reason why the teacher said that we could not enter. People want to explore out of curiosity especially when we do not know what there is. There are many similar stories all over the world, and even old Japanese fairy tale for kids, Urashima and the Kingdom Beneath the Sea, tells the same idea. A young man was told not to open a box, but he opened it. A lot of smoke came out, and then he became an old man. This is human nature. I think the patience is very important lesson because the Bible talks about that at very beginning of the book.
There is another story about Cain and Abel in the chapter of The Fall of Man. To show their appreciation to the God, Cain brought a fruit of the ground, while Abel offered the firstlings of his flock and of the fat. The Lord thought Cain did not show his respect enough. I honestly do not understand why the God judged so.
Meat is important, but a fruit is also important. In addition, Cain was a tiller of the ground, so a fruit must have showed his respect. The history might be different if Cain did not kill his brother Abel out of his jealous.
Second, I think The Tower of Babel is the most interesting chapter in Genesis (chapter 10-11.) This chapter gives us a reasonable answer why people speak different language today. When everyone spoke one language and built a tower to reach to the heaven, I think the God was afraid that human would have too much power. It is easy to communicate and we have stronger fellow feeling when we speak the same language. Today, people still speak different languages all over the world, and there are still many wars and conflicts. I think that those conflicts are happening because of the luck of communication. We cannot fully understand each other if we use different languages. Even for family, friends, or neighbor, who speak the same language, sometimes it is not easy to reach each other's hearts. The punishment, which we were taken by the God, is much harder than we thought, and people are still struggling to communicate each other even living in high information technology society today. I think that people are still trying to unify the language like New York City gives us a great example. We hear many kinds of language on the street here because a lot of people come from different countries, but they use the same language, English, as a common language. Not only English, there is another noteworthy attempt to try to use one common language all over the world, which is called Esperanto, developed by Ludwik Łazarz Zamenho in 1887. People have some kind of feeling, that we want to use one language, in our own subconscious. I think that is good to communicate and that will decrease conflicts or misunderstanding in the world, so I do not know why the God did not allow as to keep using only one language.

T-REXのマークボラン、デビィットボウイ、ルーリードなどをモチーフにしているが、それらを演じたユアン・マクレガー、ジョナサン・リース・マイヤーズは良かったと思う。クリスチャン・べールも地味な役をしっかりこなしています。

すごく退廃的なスタイルなんだけど、美を追求していこうという姿勢、性を超えて行こうという姿勢がすごく輝かしくてカッコいい。

そして最後は読めてしまうし全体的にそんなに魅力的でなかった。

うーむ、素晴らしい。

巨匠キューブリックが18世紀のヨーロッパを舞台に、バリーの栄枯盛衰を完璧に描いてくれました。
セット、衣装、音楽、ライティングと、完璧主義者であるキューブリックは見事に18世紀を再現。

当時の雰囲気を出すように、ロウソクの光だけで撮影するために、NASAのために開発されたレンズを探し出し、アダプターやフォーカスなど色々改良を重ね、撮ったりと、彼の完璧に技術を追いつかせるという、創意工夫の努力も一流だと思います。

クラシック音楽の使い方が最高にうまいキューブリックですが、今回は18世紀に作曲されたバロック音楽で統一することでさらにその時代が浮かび上がってきました。見事。

3時間があっという間です。

白人、黒人、ギャング、そして34年の選挙がらみの話しなんだが、さすがカンザスシティー。
挿入されてくるジャズがかっこいい。
レスター・ヤングに化けるジョシュア・レッドマンとコールマン・ホーキンスに化けるクレイグ・ハンディがジャズの歴史に残るサックスの一騎討ちを展開。
ロバートアルトマンさすがだなと思います。
ロン・カーターもいたね。
Hey Hey Club行ってみたかったわ。
